I remember loving these photos from Vogue earlier this year of a sprawling c. 1917 Colonial-style home in Locust Valley. Of course, I always fall for a white house and the pale blue window shutters are soft and unexpected. The British Racing Green Mini Cooper is a nice touch and a perfect run around summer car.
A mix of flooring with gorgeous parquet in the entry surrounded by new dark wood and sisal on the stairs.
I wouldn’t normally combine these various shades of blue on the upholstery pieces, but it not only works, it looks beautiful. The less things match perfectly, the less “decorated” a home looks. The scale of the artwork lends a modern touch. Another wood floor surface is introduced in a variegated herringbone.
A clever way to minimize imposing angles of a ceiling is wallpapering the whole room. It creates a cocoon feeling and is much more cozy than if the walls were simply painted.
The pool house and outdoor furniture have an original-vintage vibe…simple cushions, a classic striped awning, and traditional stone pool decking.
Just beautiful.
