I have a small collection of pendants I’ve acquired over the years. Almost all of them have sentimental value and were purchased to remember a special moment, a trip, or a milestone in my life. They are little treasures that make me happy when I slide them on a chain to wear, remembering the significance of when and where they were from. They are much like a charm bracelet in their collected appeal, although in my opinion, much easier and more versatile to wear.
The handmade look of the hammered 18k gold disks by jewelry designer Jennifer Alfano have been on my radar since I first saw them. I’ve looked for birthstone pendants before but never really found any that had the beauty and uniqueness of an heirloom piece that I would want to keep forever. Layering the birthstones of my boys on a long gold chain would be a beautiful addition to my collection and something to treasure.
Incidentally, I’ve followed Alfano for several years between her blog and former editorial work at Harper’s Bazaar. Not only does she have exquisite taste and a good eye for style, her editorials were always educating and entertaining.
