Blue may be the most versatile color of all transforming even the most basic silhouettes into sophisticated pieces. Take, for example, the BALENCIAGA knee-high boots above, which would be beautiful in predictable black, but are stylishly elevated with navy front panels. And dark denim fabricated in the unexpected shapes of the ladylike pleated J.W. ANDERSON skirt or THE ROW wrap jacket adds a spin to otherwise classics. Best of all, blue is truly a year round color transitioning easily between seasons making it a wise investment.

A nice post. My own wardrobe has been steering towards navy with black being relegated to just a handful of items. Totally agree with you on this selection!

Navy has been become new black. I remember when I graduated as an interior designer and started my first job in 1971. The first thing I did after I was hired was buy a three piece Ralph Lauren wool suit with a blue and white stripe shirt and a cream silk blouse. I also bought a camel cashmere sweater and tan leather pumps to wear with the suit. These fashion pieces became the main staples of my wardrobe.
