An article in The WSJ Online last week asked the question “Is This the Beginning of the End for Skinny Jeans?” with the popularity of the Levi 501 inspired style on the rise. Personally, I think there’s a place for both, and actually, even more. A full array of denim options in the closet is a good way to go. I don’t think the skinny jean is going anywhere, it just may not have top billing and be the go-to jean that it was. But, it has its place and still looks good with pumps or boots for a pulled-together look. There’s also always room for a flared jean, boyfriend and a classic straight cut. If anything, the most difficult pair to pull off successfully is the Levi 501 style. Finding the right proportions that taper just so and hit at the perfect mid-waist point is different for everyone and a challenge. I’ve seen pictures of women looking great in this style and others that just look sloppy. Ultimately, it’s about how we perceive these jeans and adjusting our mindset to a new silhouette is what makes fashion fresh and interesting.

Same here. I added boyfriend jeans to my closet this year, and they’re a great addition, but I’ve still kept my skinny jeans and still have a pare of dark denim flares that I wear occasionally. And when I do wear the flares, they always get compliments- they seem new to everyone!

There will always be a place for skinny jeans for me. They’re just so easy and comfortable. And I’m glad I saved some of my best fitting flares from MiH…I wore them the other day and they felt new!
