It all started with a black turtleneck. Shopping for a sweater was the last thing on my mind in the midst of the current heat wave we’re experiencing. But, there it was, a Marc by Marc Jacobs chunky knit caught my eye. I knew it was a keeper even before I tried it on. The slim shape, asymmetrical hem and slanted patch pocket were details that reminded me of sweaters I’d seen from Balenciaga and Proenza Schoueler, at obviously much higher price points. Aside from the chic cut, it’s made from a very wearable cotton/silk weave that’s substantial but soft. It’s a great weight for California weather. I’m planning on pairing it with both skirts and pants.
Skirts: I love black and khaki together, so the S’ Max Mara is a good starting point. Lightweight cotton makes it all the more appealing. I can wear it now with a tank and sandals and in the fall with knits and tights. I’d also wear the sweater with a mid-length flowy print or a short A-line skirt with tights and boots.
Trousers: High on my radar for fall. A slim tailored black pair is essential and the key is finding the perfect fit. I’ve had luck with Theory in the past and they offer so many cuts and options, that’s a good place to start. For a couple of seasons, I’ve been on the hunt for an ivory cropped trouser. Weight of fabric and cut make all the difference, so perhaps a step up in pricing is the answer? I love the slight flare on Stella McCartney’s Eden cut. I can’t stand when pockets show through the fabric. It always amazes me when designers don’t consider this.
Shoes: I’ll continue wearing oxfords with everything this fall. I love them with everything from jeans to dresses. Robert Clergerie’s plaid insert and wood heel are a handsome addition to the classic wingtip. Call it a pump or bootie, Zara’s high cut front and stacked wood heel look like a pair from Céline I’ve had my eye on, but are impossible to track down. The silhouette elevates the basic pump and is modern and directional. I’ll wear sandals into fall but like them with a little weight. The touch of shearling on Newbark’s slides adds a level of interest that’s unique and very appealing.
Accessories: For sunglasses, the warmth of tortoiseshell looks beautiful with fall colors and Céline makes a standout, oversized frame with clean lines. Bold jewelry with substance works best with textured knits, I’ll save delicate pieces for softer looks. The Bottega Veneta signature intreciatto sterling band is a classic. Lastly, the colors of Valentino’s new tote are a stunning combination. Here’s a nice way to add a touch of ivory for fall and brighten up a dark palette. The streamlined design with a discreet logo on the backside classifies this bag as a new favorite.

This sweater that you add to the khaki skirts, reminds me the clothes of forestry workers (foresters?) In Poland. I fell in love with Celne sunglasses, but it costs a fortune! You chose a very cool things :)
