With September right around the corner, change is in the air. It’s too hot to jump into fall clothing and probably will be for some time, so instead I’m just changing up my beauty routine…specifically lip color. It’s pretty easy to go almost makeup-less with a strong lip, and that’s a plus for looking pulled together in sweltering heat. Concealer, mascara and blush/bronzer are about all I’m willing to put on some days. A bold lip completes my bare faced look but satisfies my craving for something fresh.
I love the wide range of cherry and berry colors seen in the Fall ’15 shows. I wish after all these years I could claim a signature red, but for some reason my tried and true favorites don’t always repeatedly look right. My skin tone varies at different times of the year so I need to make adjustments with my makeup, usually blush and lip color. At Barneys the other day, I had free time to try on a variety of reds from several vendors. Taking tips from their pros, we liked a smudgy red with an invisible liner best so it didn’t appear perfect…which right there makes wearing red feasible. We went for a matte finish for staying power and then gave it a touch of moisture with my new favorite product…Sisley Phyto Lip Twist. It’s a tinted balm, that for my case, toned down the brightness of the red lipstick while smoothing and moisturizing. It’s even pretty on its own as a sheer red. I like the feel so much, I might get one of the nudes too for my neutral color story.
