It would be easy to throw on a pair of jeans, ballerinas and a tweed blazer and come nowhere close to looking as stylish as blogger/stylist Hanna MW does above. Of course, it’s the details that make the difference and that’s why I’m always keen on making adjustments and tweaks to pieces like these that are staples in my closet.
Starting with denim, I’ve been going back and forth between dark, pristine, raw looking* denim (A.P.C., Balenciaga, Acne) and authentically faded vintage jeans (Levi’s). They both have a need and place in my closet where I wear jeans almost daily so I won’t hesitate to add them once I find my favorite pair. Loose and cuffed looks so right to me now.
The high glove ballerina (and pump) is the quietly, simple statement shoe to go for to pair with just about anything. Céline led the charge with this trend the last couple of seasons and it doesn’t seem to be fading. Rather than try and snag the elusive (not available online) original, there are plenty of others offering the same look in leather at a fraction of the price. COS, Martiniano, Maryan Nassir Zadeh, and Rachel Comey to name a few.
Blazers, specifically of the tweedy type, are making a return this fall…and I love the look paired back with denim. So easy. I’ve had my eye on the Acne Studios houndstooth jacket (above) since I first saw it. The colors in the check have life and the fringed edge lapel is too chic.
*I don’t have the patience to break in true raw denim.
