If you’re going to buy one boot this season, the most transformative silhouette is the skinny, above the ankle, chunky heel. It will completely update every look. The beauty is it works with pieces most likely already in your closet. The essential crop pants, either flared or full, a short or mid-length dress, below the knee skirts, and even the trusty skinny jean. The real appeal is their wearability with a chunky heel adding height with comfort. The only question is suede or leather, black or color, or both?

Totally agree – I had already owned two pairs of these styles before they became the boot shape of the moment – a vintage charles jourdan & kurt geiger – both in black suede with different accents These have transformed my wardrobe more than any other item I have purchased to date. The most flattering style is the one that sit 3.5″ to 4″ above the ankle. I wanted to find a leather pair in a similar shape and had tried on the topshop ones but found they were personnally too high (3.5″ heel) and gapped at the top. I am currently looking for around 2.75″ heel which is the height of both pairs I own. . Suede is far more elegant and the Coach ones look good although they appear to fall short in the ankle length from the look of the images.

I agree…it is hard to find the perfect pair that hug the ankle and reach high enough…like you said. 4″ above the ankle is a very versatile length.

Good idea! Prada has a beautiful pair in leather or black or brown suede with a 2 inch heel. May not be quite as chic as a 3 or 4 inch pair, but looks very walkable.

I have the black leather Prada. It’s a great boot! Ive been contemplating the brown…but would really love a dark burgundy.
