There was a time when I avoided pleated skirts, mostly because I thought they were unflattering. But over the years, I’ve found the opposite to be true. The fabric makes all the difference in the world. The more relaxed, the better and straighter the fall and drape. Length only helps too creating a strong vertical line. And lastly, the waist should be a tad loose so the pleats lay flat. Those rules have worked for me. I have a few in my closet I’ve kept over the years just because I know how tricky the fit can be. I’ve brought them out this year and they’re getting a lot of use. I’m so glad I kept them! I like wearing mine with flats…sneakers and loafers mostly. A slouchy sweater, either cropped or long, is the perfect addition. I’m thinking a metallic knit might be the call this season. It would be nice to have for comfortable holiday dressing.
