A beautiful home in Marin County, twenty miles north of San Francisco, with extensive use of my favorite design feature – the seamless transition from interiors to exteriors. Designed by Charlie Barnett Associates, the home is masterfully sited on a three-quarters of an acre hilltop lot to have unobstructed views of oak-covered rolling hills and Mount Tamalpais without any hint of the surrounding neighbors. Egyptian limestone flooring is uninterrupted throughout the interiors and exteriors until it meets a carpet of creeping thyme and Turkish speedwell. A slim, lap pool serves as a retaining wall while clematis, jasmine and trumpet vines soften the concrete walls and the dining arbor. The interiors are kept spare, but invitingly comfortable, allowing the focus to remain on the gorgeous views.
