In the recent issue of British Vogue, there’s a quick read by Emily Sheffield titled, Hello Kitty, which welcomes back the kitten heel “the favorite shoe silhouette of the Nineties”. Sheffield points out the characteristics that make them different this time around. Gone is the primness of the classic silhouette. Embellishment, unique colors, and oversized buckles or bows add a dose of 2017 style bringing them up to speed. The new kitten heels lend themselves to a casual pairing with jeans just as conveniently as with polished cropped trousers, skirts and dresses. Dior’s sought after runway, dressmaker-ribbon-wrapped slingback is the leader of the pack for the versatile, if not funky, new crop of kitten heels.
