I try to live a clean life with attention to diet, fitness, health and beauty products, so I was intrigued by Gwyneth Paltrow’s inaugural In Goop Health summit. I thought it would be a good opportunity to delve a little deeper into some of the theories and practices I am only familiar with on the surface by listening to experts in their fields through a series of panels. I hoped to walk away inspired and with tools to introduce some elements of the wellness lifestyle found on goop. The speakers included Paltrow’s circle of physicians, psychologists, and fitness gurus, plus a final chat with her circle of celebrity friends on creating balance in life.
Yes, there were crystal readings, aura photography and oxygen therapy, but the overall take from the day was the importance of finding ways to achieve a life with health and balance. It was definitely not a one size fits all mentality, so I think everyone could zero in on the tools that appealed most to them. I came home with a wealth of information on gut health and managing and navigating life’s hurdles plus a tote loaded with full size beauty products, books and gift certificates.
There was no down time and plenty to fill the day. In between the lecture panels, the goop Hall was filled with plenty of delicious food options – Sweetfin Poke wraps, Ancolie chia pudding, Botanica granola and MatchaBar smoothies were a few of my favorites. A Clean Beauty Apothecary, Detox Pantry and Pharmacy were shops set up to offer all sorts of goop approved products – candles, make-up, cookbooks, and supplements. The Tory Burch Sport line (Burch was one of the keynote speakers) was available, too. There was an abbreviated version of The Class, foam rolling, Q&A with Tracy Anderson, manicures from tenoverten, and mini touch-ups with Dyson hairdryers and the Glamsquad beauty team.
Many of the panel speakers, including Paltrow, casually mingled with attendees in the hall throughout the day then closed the event with cocktails in The Collagen Garden.
