One of the apparent shifts in denim is moving towards a trouser style which I can understand can be a bit tricky to style. But, I’ll use this look, styled by YoYo Cao for a MATCHESFASHION.COM edit as a great example of what works.
If you’re over forty, I’m sure it feels familiar. I remember dressing in pleated, high-waist jeans with a tucked in shirt, actually similar to this one, and belt. But, it’s been a long time since then. Inevitably, after years of skinny jeans, low-to-mid rises and distressed finishes, the fashion pendulum has swung and we’re back to a more pulled together look that I think is quite approachable. It may take some getting used to, but the more you see it, and you will, your eye will accept the new proportions. I know if I saw a woman dressed like this, I’d think she was very chic.
