People often ask me what I buy specifically from the posts on A Note on Style. My style doesn’t waver significantly from year to year, so I’m not snapping up a new wardrobe every season. The items that actually make it to my closet fall into a few categories. There are the essentials that need replacing (white jeans and tees), the new silhouettes that transform outfits (pleated skirts, cropped trouser, oversized knits), and the special pieces that are the game changers (color, print, texture). My clothing is pretty basic so I tend to have the most fun with accessories, particularly shoes and bags. My several go-to uniforms of a tee/jacket/knit with jeans, or all black, or head-to-toe white are often punctuated with these items or a great jacket, my other obsession.
Today is the first of a new series of posts highlighting what I’m shopping for, trying on and purchasing…starting with Manolo Blahnik’s Lasatte slide. I’ve had my eye on several flat, white sandals lately. When done right, they add a quietly, chic touch to so many looks. What I love about these Manolo’s is the very subtle contrast stitching which complements the wood heel so beautifully. Anything that takes away from the starkness of bright white or adds an additional detail, makes the shoe that much more appealing to me.
I can’t think of too many outfits this sandal would not work with. From jeans and shorts to skirts and dresses, the versatility is endless. And because of their slim size, they would be a great shoe to slip in a suitcase for summer travels.
P.S. – They’re comfortable!
