What I read, watch or listen to is often based on friends recommendations, so I thought I’d share my current entertainment with you. I take notes on people’s suggestions so there’s a running list available when I’m looking for something new. I’d love to hear some of your favorites too, so please share in the comments section below.
Reading: Educated but Tara Westover. Selected for my monthly book club, a memoir about Westover’s unconventional upbringing raised as a survivalist and kept out of school yet defied all odds going on to earn a PhD from Cambridge University.
Watching: Wild Wild Country. A Netflix documentary series about the controversy and unrest a cult guru, Bhagwan Rajneesh and his followers, bring to a small town in Oregon in their attempt to build a utopian city. The methods are provocative, disturbing and controversial eventually gaining national attention as the commune’s power grows. Six addictive episodes.
Listening to: How I Built This with Guy Raz. Interviews with the founders of a wide variety of businesses starting with why then proceeding to how they built their companies. It’s extremely interesting . Either recognizing a void in the market or finding a better way to sell products, many of these entrepreneurs (that I’ve listened to so far) were the first to devise unconventional, business models in the digital world. I’ve played half a dozen episodes so far, including the stories behind Stitch Fix, The Knot, Wayfair and Dermalogica, with complete intrigue and respect for their founders perseverance while staying true to their vision. The podcast is available here.

Those sound really good. I don’t pay attention to much entertainment but trying to find resources on how to build what I’m building.
