It should come as no surprise that Terra, the rooftop restaurant on the third floor of Eataly LA, is insanely good in all facets – setting, food, drink and service. The smoky scent from the wood-burning grill sets the stage and draws you in as you climb the round staircase to the entrance. Then, you’re wowed by one of the best views in L.A. sweeping from DTLA over The Los Angeles Country Club and then to Santa Monica and the ocean beyond. But, it’s not just the view that deserves attention. The Terra menu, “inspired by earth, gin and fire”, centers around the grill where dishes of best in-season ingredients are served alongside homemade pastas and hot off the flames seafood and meats. Wines (most can be purchased downstairs at Eataly) and botanical cocktails round out the offerings. A few of the outstanding dishes I’ve had on my visits were the Lil’ Gem crab, avocado and lemon salad (above right – with a simple dressing I NEED the recipe for) and a selection of Spiedini (speared things) of both grilled Asparagus and Trumpet Mushrooms. The Carote , a coal roasted heirloom carrots, white balsamic vinaigrette, cumin, roasted almonds and golden raisins concoction would satisfy just about anyone. I need to go back to try more pasta dishes because they all looked so good, but I can vouch for the Ravioli Primavera, a house made spring pea ravioli, with mint and lemon and the Garganelle Con Funghi , a handmade nettle pasta with wild mushrooms and Parmigiano Reggiano. And I can’t get the Tagliatelle alla Spoletina with summer truffles out of my mind. Seriously mouth-watering. I can’t wait to return.

Hello Karima,
If you are able to get the recipe for the crab salad would you kindly post it? Everything looks amazing.
Thank you for all you do on your site. You are such an inspiration.
Karima
Thank you Patricia. I will absolutely share the recipe if I can get my hands on it or even mimic it. I contacted Eataly, since they have recipes on their site, but they would not share.
