The freshest look in floral design is spare and minimal. The beautiful wild, meandering bundles dominating the scene for the last few years appear to be taking a back seat to a less is more approach. Either a single stem or an airy handful, there’s a sculptural aesthetic that is modern yet retains the just picked from the garden feel. I saw these arrangements, with either fresh or dried flowers, repeated throughout Amsterdam and Scandinavia this summer with an appreciation on the focus on individual blooms. A simple glass or ceramic vase complements perfectly.
