The practical side of me kicks in when choosing what to wear to holiday parties. It’s usually chilly and I know I’ll be on my feet socializing for the majority of the time. There’s nothing worse than being uncomfortable, so I keep a few pieces in my closet I know work well in these situations.
A beautiful black coat to drape over a dress may not get much wear throughout the year in Southern California, but I sure am glad I have it when needed. Arriving to a party with a chill is no fun, nor is waiting for a valet without something to keep warm. As far as shoes, I’ll save the heels for occasions where I’ll have the opportunity to sit vs. stand, and opt for a pair of chic flats. A pointed toe and slight lift are usually enough, but with so many embellished options, why stop there? Love or hate the Valentino rockstuds, they’re still hands down one of my most comfortable flats. Ditto for a pair of Chanel velvet slingbacks.
