Trouser styles come and go, but a no-fuss, slim cut is my go-to silhouette over and over again. I have a few pair collected over the years that have become workhorse pieces in my wardrobe. They truly work wonders sliding between day and night looks with ease. For travel, I always pack a mid to high waist slim style with a touch of stretch. I’ll wear them sporty with a blazer and loafers then switch to a dressier top and heels for evening. The cut lends itself to a number of shoe options, which is key when narrowing down packing options. By keeping the silhouette ultra-simple, I have endless styling options.

I totally agree. A pair of flattering, slim black pants is a wardrobe staple. Whenever I think chic, I always think of the slim black pant and black turtleneck. Audrey Hepburn and Rosie Huntington-Whitely are perfect examples. A stylist friend mentioned to me that the Gucci pants you featured are extremely flattering.

What is the optimal length to wear them with both flats & heels? Just below the ankle?

All the pants I wear including jeans are cropped above the ankle. Being an inseam leg of 32.5 inches I find this proportion works well with any type of shoe /boot/ heel.

Joanna…I agree with Paula and wear mine right above the ankle.
