Its been raining in SoCal, which I absolutely love! It puts me in a nesting mood that meshes nicely with the pace this month of slowing down. Looking out the windows of my house, everything is grey – the sky, the ocean, the teak furniture, even the bluestone takes on a grey hue when wet. It’s all beautiful.
Grey is one of my favorite colors, especially in clothing. It’s a shade with range. It personifies casual street wear (think sweatshirt grey) and is the epitome of classic sophistication.
I’m always drawn to grey when shopping. If there’s a pile of sweaters, I’ll gravitate towards that color family. From chalky and faded to deep charcoal, grey sweaters are my weakness. Denim too. Grey washed jeans became my go-to last fall and I plan on continuing with styling them well into spring. Paired with white or a sunny bright, it acts as an interesting neutral.
I’ve put together four moodboards below with a selection of pieces on my radar. They cover everything from loungewear to outerwear. I’d have a hard time narrowing down favorites. They’re all good. Keep scrolling and hover over items in images for links and details.
Love the cozy cashmere sweat pant and sweater pieces from Theory.’s And, I’d slide into either of these slippers or Birkenstocks at home or heading out the door for pilates.
Giving my black puffer a break and wouldn’t mind stepping out in this light grey Moncler puffer or Canada Goose charcoal parka. Same for winter boots. Aren’t these so good? And while it’s still chilly, why not swap a cotton t-shirt for one in cashmere? I’m also eyeing jeans. The wash and silhouette is perfect.
Call these the California run-around staples: Tkees flip flops, easy t-shirts, comfy sneakers and loose blouses and sweaters.
I’d be thrilled wearing every one of these pieces. From sandal to boot in the palest stone suede, to a loose pullover and cozy coat, they’re all so me.
Classic jeans in a grey wash, essential pullover sweaters and a teddy coat are the grab and go pieces that simply work. My cold weather gear would get a quick update with these cool hiker boots and long cashmere fingerless gloves.
