I wish I could get excited about coats and knits for fall, but the climate in California simply doesn’t warrant it. Instead, I zero in on key accessories that inject a sense of newness to my wardrobe but are still highly wearable. Right now, it’s all about the bag and belt.
I can’t remember a recent time when I’ve been tempted by so many good bags. I’m still obsessed with the Bottega Veneta small pouch (I pre-ordered in white – fingers crossed it comes through!) and several other Bottega bags new to the Fall19 line up. Meanwhile, structured shoulder bags with a lady-like bourgeois spirit are highly covetable too. My radar is tuned in to rich, warm colors such as bordeaux, cognac and deep mustard. They’re all gorgeous and will add a punctuation mark to the classic color palette in my closet.
But, it’s not only about bags right now. I’m on a tear for some good belts too. They are the game-changing accessory of the season and should be on everyone’s list. With high waist pants and tailored jackets, a belt is practically required. Simple is fine, but this is an area to have a little fun with introducing texture, sculpture-like buckles, or a classic monogram. Think of a belt as a piece of jewelry and slip one on for a chic finishing touch. I’ve already posted on a few of my favorites, but there will certainly be more to come as the season unfolds.

I adore the look of the bags you’ve highlighted, but I need a purse that’s large enough to at least hold my wallet and sunglasses. I’m going to have to take a pass on the mini bag trend.

Really? I carry both those items, plus a pair of readers, lipstick and the large iPhone-plus and they fit fine in these bags. Funny, I don’t consider these “mini” at all.
