Other than December to January, I can’t think of any other two consecutive months that are more drastically opposite. As much as I love the spirit of the holidays and embrace it wholeheartedly, as soon as they’ve passed, I’m eager to turn the page for the fresh start January brings. It’s a time when I crave a clean palette across the board from the environment in my home and what I wear to the food I eat and how I spend my time.
House decor is pared back to the bare minimum, greenery is replaced with flowers and a lightly fragranced candle fills the air. Currently, the ocean mist/citrus scent from Linnea’s Lights Sea Salt candle contributes to the vibe of my new morning routine that begins with a cup of green tea and meditation using the Calm app. Throughout the month, I’m on an organizing spree decluttering drawers and cabinets tossing unused and expired products. The bathroom is my favorite place to start and I’ll ruthlessly part with beauty products that no longer suit me or hair and skin treatments that I don’t find effective.
The only clothing on my radar is pale, cozy and relaxed. The ivory faux fur coat says it all. It’s not a big shopping month for me but if I see something I’ve been on the hunt for, like a new white sneaker, I’ll pick it up. This pair from Tod’s is what I’ve had in mind. Ditto for the boucle belted jacket from IRO. I’ve been looking for a textured white topper and this just might fit the bill. These are pieces I’d be able to wear year-round in California.
And along with the overall sense of cleansing, I’m starting the year off with a round of ProLon. I did my first round last year at this time and am still impressed with the health benefits I experienced. Along with instilling a sense of discipline in my eating habits, I look at food from a more nutrient-dense approach. Last year I began replacing one of my daily meals at home with a bowl of soup loaded with ingredients that are satisfying, filling and highly nutritious. That’s a habit I plan on carrying through 2020 and for years to come.

I’m on my third day of ProLon too! I’ve been in deep organizing mode also. After all the Christmas decorations got put away, I’ve been clearing closets, drawers and the bathroom. Start the year right!
