It may be early to start a spring shopping list, but I can see how the above items would update a number of looks so I’m saving them to a moodboard now. Faded denim, ecru tops, and brown sandals are nothing new but fresh details add a modern note.
I dipped into the long, straight jean silhouette last fall with a pair in black from Khaite. I love how they slim and elongate the leg. For spring, a similar cut in a faded wash looks good. The length du jour hits below the ankle which takes a little getting used to. Personally, I feel better wearing a bit of a heel for the style to flatter but I don’t mind. I have plenty of other denim options to wear with flats. For now, I’d pair them with booties then swap them out when it warms up for a heeled strappy sandal.
Speaking of sandals, the square toe that has dominated the scene recently is still the shape to embrace. Some are overly exaggerated but Souliers Martinez Melilla sandal is an attractive shape with just enough edge. An eye-catching stylish heel in a reasonable height adds to their appeal. Between the warm brown leather and gold mirror accent, these sandals would go the distance.
White tops are a key element of my uniform so I’m always looking for little tweaks to give them a fresh spin. A denim jacket reinterpreted in ivory is exactly what I mean. Not only is the color super chic, but the longer length is spot on. I’d wear it buttoned up as a shirt or layered over another top. I think it looks especially good with a knit in the same off-white shade. Toteme’s point collar ribbed sweater works beautifully here and would look equally stylish with trousers or a skirt. Also available in taupe.
