Model Georgina Grenville compelled me to take a look through the Deveaux Fall 2020 Lookbook. Pretty much any photoshoot where she is featured is worth a glance for me. She portrays strength and wisdom that comes with age along with a no-nonsense approach to beauty that I like.
Then I studied the clothing. It made me wonder what we will want to wear when this crisis passes and if these pieces will even end up in production. Not the most pressing question, but it provoked a pause. Will we want to dress in soft clothing that comforts us or structured, tailoring that commands control? Thoughts?

My thoughts, for myself, is that I will want to look pretty in soft, feminine style, bring out my favorite scarves, belts, handbags, and gay, fun color. After being in self-quarantine for who knows how much longer, I will look forward to restaurant dining, the symphony, meeting friends for lunch at the Club, going to church and greet spring.

Sharon – I look forward to all of those things too. Just after a couple of weeks of isolation, I think we’re all finding great appreciation in the daily activities we took for granted.

I don’t think it will change much. The only thing I hope, and this is not related to this virus outbreak, is they start dressing women like women and not men. Let men be masculine and women be feminine!

Thanks Dana. I think we’re fortunate to have so many options to choose from. Personally, I like a mix. I love a Zimmermann floral chiffon dress with heels as much as a tailored Joseph suit with brogues. We can have both!

I believe women today can dress with a statement of inherent strength and power AND confidence in our femininity. Women’s knowledge, drive, and compassion should naturally create the way we express ourselves in the world. Whether, throughout our day, we call it the uniform, armor, fantasy dress, or comfort wrap, women today dress for all the roles we play. Be confident in dressing how YOU need to best address the life you inhabit. With strength, compassion, beauty. We are the world.

Amen Stephanie!

For now, I feel like soft clothing.

I love her mules by the way! I for one, am looking forward to getting dressed up again. I always enjoy being comfortable in my attire but can’t wait to put on floaty dresses and strappy sandals, cute denim with a lively blouse. Some things I’m not currently wearing at home.
