It’s hard to believe this is the final week of April. It feels like life has been on hold for the last several weeks and I’m ready to move forward. Things I’ve been thinking about buying have sat in my cart while everything hangs in limbo. But my mood has changed and I’m releasing the pause button. I’ve had the chance to think long and hard about the purchases I’d like to make and how they will fit into my new lifestyle. Pretty tops are on the top of my list. I’m also adding a few more pair of blue light filtering glasses to scatter around the house. A new cookbook is headed my way and I’ll be trying a new lash system to perhaps replace mascara.
Wearing: As the weather warms and sweaters are shelved, a fresh batch of tops will come into play. Beyond the rotation of basic tees, pretty shirts are looking very appealing. I snapped up the striped cotton blouse from Dôen (above) and picked up a black Ulla Johnson top that will easily take me through summer. My white shirting is being updated with a classic style from Frank & Eileen and an easy short sleeve basic from Madewell.
Must Haves: I started wearing blue-light filtering glasses last year and they’ve helped with the eye fatigue I often experienced at the end of the day. I now keep several pairs around the house – in my office, bedroom, and kitchen. Call me crazy, but since the glasses are sitting on trays in various rooms, I like them to coordinate with the room – sort of like a home decor accessory. A pale acetate pair look pretty on my nightstand while a darker frame fits well in the kitchen. I like this gold-rimmed pair for my office.
Cooking: By now, you know I’m a big Pamela Salzman fan. I refer to her blog and cookbook more than any other for nutrient-packed meals and cooking tips. Her long-awaited second cookbook, Quicker Than Quick, has just been published and it comes at the perfect time. Housebound, we’ve been cooking more than ever and could use a new batch of inspiration and healthy recipes. The title alone is a sell for me but I know the contents will be fantastic.
Beauty: Makeup these days… Last week I wrote a post about eyes having all the focus when wearing a face mask. I’m not a huge mascara fan although I’m trying several of your recommendations to see if any of them change my mind. A reader recommended magnetic lashes which I’d frankly never heard of. I did a little research and bought a starter set from Lashify. They had lash sets on the smaller side that looked very natural. Application and wearability? I don’t know, but I promise to report back.
