I usually reserve shorts for casual outings like going to the market or beach. But the new crop of longer length styles look chic and provide extra mileage when worn with more tailored pieces. Adding polish ups their status from ultra-casual to an elevated look that feels appropriate in a greater range of scenarios.
Two shapes I’ve been playing with this season are a slim, long bermuda, and a loosely tailored silhouette. I like to wear either with pieces that create a pulled-together look that feels street-worthy and urban. A blazer, tucked-in blouse, or pretty knit do the trick. Although I’ve never been fond of shorts with heels, a longer length makes the pairing a flattering, viable option.
And, when the call is for a laid-back, relaxed vibe, it’s easy to switch gears and style the same shorts with tees, tanks, sneakers or flip flops.
The Carrie from AGOLDE is my pick for a slim, denim bermuda. I have it in black and am considering another pair in blue.
