The Clarks Wallabee I’ve been posting about (here and here) shows true staying power from this 2007 Vogue USA editorial. Add a great white shirt and you’ve got two keepers that continue to stand the test of time. True keepers.

I met Nathan Clark, (d.2011,) the designer of the Wallabee and Desert Boot, in 1981 on a ferry traveling from London to Paris. The very tall, Mr. Clark, was a gentleman. We chatted the whole way–he distracted me from feeling boat sick, so, forever when I see a Clark shoe, I think of him and the shoe especially fondly.

What a great memory!

Somehow I DON’T see you wearing Wallabees!
Karima
Yep. Just like sneakers!

Love my wallabees – got them after seeing them in a Celine ad!

I use to have the exact pair when I was 16, back in the 80 s. A gift from my dad💖

Hi Karima – I know that this isn’t related to this post, but I need suggestions for a new cross body. Last year I order the Gucci 1955 shoulder bag (love it!) but it’s too short for a comfortable cross body. Last week I received the Bottega Veneta padded cassette, but am returning it because it won’t close after adding my wallet, glasses, and a few small items. I have several Chloe cross bodies, but don’t love the new bags from the last two years. I’m tempted to fall back on my love of Chanel, but it feels too predictable for me. I need a bag that’s on trend, mid-size, and capable of holding a moderate amount of necessities. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I’m liking a structured cross body with interchangeable straps from CELINE and https://rstyle.me/+iozd3wivDyP10OHdoF8Izw.

Thank you, and thanks for more in depth information in your January 29th post.

These are so cute – I’ve always wanted a pair. How comfortable are they? Also, do you find them a bit wide in the toe area? (please say yes…for the sake of a bunion)
Karima
They’re incredibly comfortable and don’t feel tight to me. The leather is soft which perhaps would allow the fit to accommodate a variety of widths.
