The foundation of a million looks, a classic white t-shirt and faded jeans are two closet essentials. I can’t count how many times I start with them as a base layer (my uniform) then toss on a great blazer, cardigan, or layer an oversized shirt and pair with any shoe in my closet. Sandals, loafers, ballerinas, heels…they all work. Being the essentials they are, it doesn’t hurt to have more than one, especially in the area of tees.
For the most polished look, I love the weight, high neck and bright white of a Prada* tee. (*They have almost tripled in price since I purchased mine in 2019. I would not have bought mine at their current price.) For an everyday look, I wear either ATM, AGOLDE, or Gap. The AGOLDE Rena t-shirt is a good replacement for the overpriced Prada.
The iconic Levi’s 501 will forever be the ultimate jean. I prefer the straight cut over the skinny and like both the regular and cropped lengths. After a long search for a pair of non-stretch white jeans, I tried the 501’s and ended up getting them in two sizes for two different looks. They’re classic and affordable. If the 501 cut isn’t for you, the Wedgie Icon Fit is also very popular with a similar authentic effect.

Glad I bought the Prada T shirts before price increase! I recently discovered Moussy Vintage jeans and love them. Non stretch, faded Cedar Rapids style.

Moussy are good!

I just bought t-shirts from Bombas and LOVE them. They wash beautifully and have a wonderful drape and feel to them. And, like Elizabeth, I love Moussy!

Always glad to hear about new favorites. I’ll check them out.

T-shirts from UNIQLO are the best thing since canned beer; choice of length, arm length, great fabric w/ a bit of stretch and great colors. Can’t beat the price and they launder well.

Good to know!

Hm.com has great basic tshirts for $9.99, the lengths, the cotton, the high neck. They’re simply the finest.
