I’m immediately drawn to white interiors. I like the clean, contemporary feel it announces when you walk into the room. But there is a fine line between white that is stark, which can feel sterile, and white that is organic, which feels warm and inviting. Designer James Huniford masters the later. Adding the elements that create a sense of calm is the key and it’s subtle. Natural wood floors ground the intensity of crisp white and are a perfect starting point to introduce the fabrics that will define the space. Objects that are bold and sculptural act as pieces of art while soothing creams, blues and greys softly blend in resulting in a home that feels sophisticated yet relaxed.
“People feel that the room is calming but they don’t really know what elements created that calmness.”
