I like bookcases when they are filled to the brim with books and objects as much as when they’re sparsely decorated or centered around a color story. The point is, whatever the style, they look best when they have a theme and balance.
I was checking out The Restoration in Charleston, another chic, little boutique hotel that was super charming, and walked into their library styled lounge. The wall-to-wall bookcase surrounding the sleek marble fireplace anchored the room. Beautifully lit, the theme was established with a limited color palette and an arrangement of like-minded objects, both old and new. It was uniquely classic and modern, and made fresh with the pop of french blue – a color carried throughout the hotel.
