Over the years, I’ve narrowed down everything I travel with, including cosmetics. I found I can get by with much less than I would have previously imagined. I might toss in an extra lipstick, but beyond that, these are the 12 items that I take with me on every trip. I am very conscious of size, weight and break-ability for the pieces I choose, so no heavy, ornately packaged products make the cut. I like eye shadow and blush palettes for practicality and prefer lip crayons to heavier, bulkier lipstick cases. I’ll bring two lip colors, a nude and a bright. Glossier is a favorite since it layers from sheer to matte really well. Any eye or lip pencil I bring must be self-sharpening. And lastly, I keep a separate set of make up brushes to use exclusively for travel.

Have you found a self sharpening eye pencil you like? The
Laura Lercier eye pencil I liked was discontinued, and I am having trouble finding one with the right consistency. Self sharpening would be a bonus.

Yes, there are a few I like. Marc Jacobs Gel Eye Crayon, Smashbox Always Sharp, and Tarte (which has both a liquid and pencil eyeliner in one).
