BLACK IS ALWAYS GOOD

BLACK IS ALWAYS GOOD

Republished from the archive September 2019.

I wear a lot of black. It’s just so easy to look pulled together and chic with minimal effort. I’ve tried to talk myself out of buying more black pieces, but keeping the styles current is key in preventing an outfit from looking stale.

top, pants, skirt

I’ve identified a few silhouettes in collaboration with Mytheresa I’d like to add to my wardrobe this season. They’ll complement and elevate the other classic pieces I already own.

As an incentive to get my fall shopping on track, I’ll want to take advantage of a promotion Mytheresa is offering for the next two days (September 27-29). All items in this link are valid including many pieces in this post. I often shop for The Row, Joseph, Khaite, Prada, Jil Sander and many of my other favorite brands from Mytheresa. The styling, service, and availability of highly sought after items are just a few of the reasons it’s one of my favorite shopping destinations. (Use the promo code at the end of this post for the discount.)

blazer, leggings, boots (similar)

Earlier this month in a post on my fall uniform, I talked about an oversized black blazer which will serve as an anchor for numerous looks. The generous cut will immediately modernize even the simplest pairing with jeans and a tee. If I feel like keeping an outfit more trim looking, I have a schoolboy blazer that has served me well for years.

jeans, top, bag (similar)

I have a new favorite top from The Row that will go miles in merchandising looks. The technical fabric gives structure to the simple gathered silhouette offering styling options day or night. The weight for California is good too where it would easily serve as a seasonless piece.

I previously shared the black jeans I’ve been living in from Khaite (above) which are included in the Mytheresa promo.

dress, sandals (similar)

I’m skipping the predictable LBD this season and going for volume. This unstructured dress from No.21 is a key shape I’m currently embracing. I could wear with flat sandals, loafers or dress it up with a bare sandal with a little heel.

top, pants, sandals (similar)

I’ve also got my eye on a cropped kick flare from S Max Mara which would take me miles. I like them best with the lift from a heeled shoe.

silk skirt, knit skirt, sweater

And lastly, I’d like a simple black skirt to wear with a sweater, tee, blazer or a number of other tops I already own. I have one in navy silk and see how easy it is to style, so one in black would be nice. As another option, I like the look of a stretch knit pencil silhouette like this one from Joseph.

Use the following Mytheresa promo code valid September 27-29 on items marked Treat Yourself:

$100 off $700 with code FORYOU7
$200 off $1300 with code FORYOU8

Thank you Mytheresa for sponsoring this post.

Love your picks! You look like you have lost weight, not that you had to. How did you do it?

Thanks. I have lost weight this year with a change to my diet jump-started by ProLon in January. TBC…
