There are items in my closet I’ll always have. They’re basics that effortlessly pull an outfit together and key pieces for travel. I’ll update them occasionally when they look tired or simply to keep their style current.
A cropped trench jacket is a new favorite. The shorter length makes sense for California’s climate. Striped tees are favorite hero pieces that look chic with jeans, colored trousers or a leather skirt. A small tote in a neutral color is a classic investment piece and wearable year round. Hoops are always a winner in my book and this bubble style from Heub is interesting. I like how the post sits below the top of the hoop, which I imagine would conceal any pull on the ear lobe. Sneakers and bucket hats are pieces on rotation all the time. I always have several styles on hand for variety. And a tailored black trouser can go from polished to casual with a few styling tweaks.
hoop earrings, cropped trench, black pants, sneakers, hat, bag, striped tee (this one from COS is good too)

Stripped tees are my mainstay. Favorite are Saint James & Agnes b! Long lasting & never go out of style.

Jil Sander made that striped tee in dress form last year – ankle length and super wearable, great for travel. The fabric is really good; nice and heavy.

Good find! I love the COS stripe tee right now. Also great substantial fabric.

Just ordered the COS one – thank you for the recommendation! I am always looking for good substantial tees that aren’t too cheap but aren’t too pricey either. The shape looks a little more chic than the Uniqlo ones.

The COS tees are great – thank you for recommending! They are a great shape and the right weight.
