There are a few categories I think are worth the splurge. For me, these items are pieces that I know will stand the test of time in my closet. They’ll add styling options to pieces I already own but more importantly they’re well made.
When I first started investing in my closet, I initially splurged on shoes (I remember my first Prada loafers I wore to death!) and then bags. They were never trend driven but instead either reflected the aesthetic of the designer or were already timeless classics. Over the years, the bags have held their value – which I can attest to when I’ve decided to sell one that’s no longer being used. The shoes, not so much.
In terms of clothing, jackets top my investment worthy list. At 60, I have a strong picture of my personal style and know what pieces I reach for time after time. I feel good in jackets…pulled together and confident. To me, they’re worth the splurge. I know they’ll be with me for the long run.
Falling into this mindset is the Gucci jacket in my post on cropped jackets, I see a timeless piece with versatility and consider all the ways I’ll wear it. With jeans will be my go-to – dressed up or down with flats, sneakers or heels. I picture it over an all black ensemble – likely a knit with trouser combination – or casually draped over my shoulders with a dress. There are so many options.
skirt, jacket, jeans, blouse, tan pant, black pant, hat, turtleneck

I actually looked for this at the Gucci store at South Coast Plaza last week–sadly they didn’t have it in stock…..
I love how it pairs so well with so many different items.

Farfetch is the only online store that has a decent run of sizes right now. It runs big if you’re willing to give it a try: GUCCI BOUCLE JACKET

Love your photo. Such a clever angle to show everything but also just looks cool.
