A white pant in a fabrication that dresses up or down is the second item in this week’s capsule collection. I’d wear with black for the classic contrast that works every time in creating an elegant pairing. A tonal story always looks sophisticated and playing with texture keeps it from appearing bland. A pop of color, navy, or a bold print on top are just a few of the other endless options. The key is finding the right pant. Weight of fabrication, fit and wearability with a number of heel heights are vital elements to consider.
I love this easy, tonal look in shades of cream. The pants worn with casual sneakers and a lightweight knit add a relaxed vibe. The canvas tote brings in a single pop of contrast with black leather handles. For additional mileage, I’d switch out the shoes and bag for the black suede sling backs and small woven bag.
This look is all about contrasts. A black and white pairing is nothing new, so to keep it fresh, the pieces need to be interesting. A clean, minimally detailed leather jacket is an investment piece that will pay off for years to come. It can top a slip dress for evening or be tossed on with jeans. Textured accessories keep a black and white outfit from looking flat. A woven T-Strap pump peeking out from a trouser would have my attention. Ditto the small Bottega Veneta bag.
And, back to the beginning with the white pant paired with warm neutrals.
