A SPRING CAPSULE WARDROBE

A SPRING CAPSULE WARDROBE

This week, I’m doing things a little different. I put together a capsule wardrobe with the above pieces to wear to a number of occasions. A reader asked me for help with outfits for a long weekend for her daughter’s graduation. Along with the ceremony, there will be a brunch, cocktail reception, and perhaps a dinner or two. Another reader asked about an out of town bridal shower that would include a few days of travel and dinners. I collected pieces with those events in mind, plus additional things to wear off duty. At home or away, I think there’s plenty to play with from these classic items.

The classic palette drives the story. I filled in with a tan blazer and versatile neutral separates. Black acts as a contrasting pop and simply travels well. Comfortable flats and heels have looks covered for both casual and dressy affairs. Two simple pieces of jewelry can be layered or worn on their own. A chic tote for days when a small bag won’t be enough. A crossbody in two sizes, plus a velvet bag complete the accessories.

Check in each day this week for styling options using the pieces from the spring capsule collection above.

Lovely classics. I would want to add a pretty colorful dress, especially for the shower weekend.

Question for you. Do you own a Marni trunk? Is it big enough for everyday?

I have a flat (single compartment) version of the Marni trunk. The classic Marni Trunk is would be big enough for everyday for me, but I don’t carry very much. I don’t like the look of the Trunk bag when it is too full, so I’d only consider it if the contents were pared back.

This is fantastic! Love the capsule idea. I didn’t see a link for the velvet bag. Couldn’t you possibly give the brand?
    Thank you!

Could you share a link or brand of the black heels which are on the bottom right of the picture? I don’t see them linked. Great post!
