This Month…Wear Now, Wear Later

This Month…Wear Now, Wear Later

March is the official month to start transitioning from winter to spring clothing. It also falls right in the midst of Fall ’16 fashion week, where the new collections tease at what’s ahead. Whenever there is a big seasonal shift, I like to take a good look at my closet and see what I want to part with and where I need to fill in. I also like to incorporate my favorite ideas from the Fall ’16 shows into looks I can wear now. Often, if I find these pieces in the spring collections in stores now, they’re in lighter weight fabrics I’ll wear well into fall. It’s exactly these items I’m happy to have on those warm October days when it’s too hot for traditional fall clothing. A soft trench, olive-green pants, flat mules and a chain strap bag will be pieces on the top of my fall list that I wouldn’t mind having now.

Vince trench: love the minimalist look and subtle top stitching on this relaxed trench  |   Isabel Marant sweater: worn with a tank or long sleeve shirt underneath, this multi-stitched knit would be a fresh addition to my round-up of basic sweaters  |  Bottega Veneta bag: you can’t go wrong with the discreet beauty of a Bottega bag and this one is stunning in a rich camel hue with oxidized chain strap  |  Gucci mules: I passed on the fur-lined mules from fall, but am all over the newer, fur-free version. I love the warm brown with all my neutrals and think it will distress nicely with wear.  |  The Great pant: perhaps the perfect slim cargo pant in a lovely shade of green. I’ll wear with everything and give my denim a rest.  |  Lizzie Fortunato earrings: Time to swap out my tiny, simple studs for something more substantial, but still classic. Love everything about these wood hoops.

Would love a cute pair of khakis with a little “something.” Not sure I could pull off a dropped crotch, though, which these seem to have.
