Packing with a plan makes the selection process of what to bring easy. Sticking to a color palette of black and neutrals lets me build numerous looks without getting bored. For a recent trip, I committed to this strategy often wearing black pieces as a base then popping on a scarf or light colored jacket. I used the Valentino scarf above as a guide. It felt like the perfect piece to anchor my edit.
Most of the pieces were already part of my closet – some specifically collected for their usefulness when traveling. Many are from Mytheresa including Dorothee Schumacher stretch trousers, jackets and dresses…ideal for packing and comfort.
A knit dress from Sportmax made the cut for the same reasons. Ideally, any item considered must have styling options with at least three other pieces. I like this dress with loafers, boots or heels. I’d layer another long sleeve thin knit under for extra warmth or toss on a loose sweater over the dress with the ruffle neckline exposed as accent.
From cold, windy days to rain storms, bringing a few coats to rotate was necessary – a trench, puffer and wool coat for evenings made the cut and were all easy to pack.
I’ve been curating a classic capsule collection for years with a majority of pieces from Mytheresa. I like the luxury brands they offer and the variety of styles. Thank you Mytheresa for supporting A Note on Style by sponsoring this post.

I love love the shorter trench in the top picture. For where I live and my life style shorter trenches are much more practical.
