I need a few good reads. I’m headed to Norway for a cruise through the fjords and want to spend my downtime relaxing and absorbed in a page turner. I haven’t found one in years, but in all fairness, I also rarely take the time to read a book. I listen to podcasts, audible books, read short articles, but there’s nothing like a fabulous book. Please send me recommendations. Homecoming by Kate Morton and Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus are my first two downloads.
Above photo was taken in 2018 on a previous cruise through the Norwegian Fjords. There’s not too many places I repeat but Norway is one of them. It’s beyond gorgeous. Follow me on Instagram to see the photos of my visit to Norway with a stop in Copenhagen.

I usually have one book I’m reading and one I’m listening to! Just finished listening to “I’ll Be You” by Janelle Brown, and before that a WW2 true story, “Three Sisters” by Heather Morris.
Been reading Marie Benedict’s historic fiction books, “The Only Woman in the Room” and “The Mystery of Mrs.Christie” were both great! She has several others too. Also recently read “The Maid”by Nita Prose.
Digging into my archived list, a few older favorites are:
“The Henna Artist” by Alka Joshi
“The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek” by Kim Michelle Richardson-true story
“The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society” by Barrows and Shaffer
“Winter Garden” Kristen Hannah-one of her earlier books
“Three Junes” by Julia Glass
Lita DaSilva
Anything by Ann Patchett (State of Wonder especially good)
The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles
Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger
A Well-Behaved Woman – a novel of the Vanderbilts by Therese Fowler
The Nightengale or The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah
Madeleine
I am loving “Horse” by Geraldine Brooks. And, I’ll second the recommendations for “The Henna Artist” and “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society”.
Barbara
All the Broken Places by John Boyne.
Thank you to your commenters for some great recommendations.
Colleen
This may be old, but The Silent Patient is excellent! I will second the Nightengale and Ordinary Grace!
JoAnn

I just finished reading The Diamond Eye by Kate Quinn. A wonderful book about the first woman sniper from Russia during the war. I highly recommend.
Ann
Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver!
Claire
The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O’Farrell and the Jane Harper novels get my vote.
Cannot wait to see your Norway fjords cruise on Instagram but I will be hanging out for your Copenhagen recommendations. In 2019, Copenhagen was my last overseas destination before lockdown and I loved it so much, it is my first overseas trip post lockdown.
Have a wonderful trip!
Amy
Enjoy your cruise!
I am reading Whalebone Theatre by Joanna Quinn and am enthralled.
