The highly anticipated first Phoebe Philo collection was released today. Available only online, most of the pieces sold out immediately. What’s left are the priciest items – $8500 bag, $3900 dress, $6900 leather jacket, and a $19,000 dress. Yes, you read that right. But really, the whole collection is extremely pricey, which puts me off. After all of the hype and the wait, I expected more.
This collection is just the latest of several making me fatigued with high prices.

The prices are obscene

It’s obscene, as well as being uninspired.

Completely agree with you. I guess Phoebe doesn’t want mere mortals wearing her clothes.

I agree with you, Karima. High Price Fatigue. It’s not only tedious, it’s unnecessary. Loved Phoebe when she headed up Chloe.
I’m over it.

And the AMAZING thing is it is mostly SOLD out!!!

Karima – I couldn’t agree more! Lots of silly build up to this launch. Very letdown and just totally over these ridiculous prices. It makes shopping depressing which I don’t want it to be.

I guess I am not as hip or chic as I like to think I am. I find the PP offerings comical, not things I would like to wear, regardless of the price. (“Hand combed embroidered tailored trousers”? Huh? Maybe I am just boring and not chic at all.
To be fair, her zip trousers are gorgeous from the front, but not sure I want the feel of metal down my legs on the back. Is everyone trying just a bit too hard? Am I trying too hard?
I am price fatigued for sure, especially when very few items are 100% wool, cashmere, cotton or linen anymore. I am finding it silly that we are being asked to pay pretty high prices for essentially plastic. (Viscose, polyester, elastane, etc.) I am beyond thankful for resale sites.
I am also grateful for Karima! Your authenticity is rare. Your eye for detail is amazing and I very much enjoy the community you have created. I find you and your perspective way more intriguing than most brands including PP.

Yes to all of the above! Thank you for calling out obscene prices for mediocre fabrics and styling. This style blog is one of the few I continue to follow zealously. Thank you Karima!

Glad to hear I’m not the only one with price fatigue.
These looks are not inspiring at all. Time to shop my closet!

Totally agree Karima, I wonder if the people that rushed to purchase just because it’s Phoebe Philo’s first collection will have buyers remorse? I know I would!!!
