I have a very short list of subscription newsletters. They have to prove their worth with compelling information I can’t find elsewhere written with a voice I can relate to. At the top of the list is YOLO Intel, the substack account for Yolanda Edwards YOLO Journal which I’ve followed, subscribed to, and purchased print issues from since its beginning. For anyone who likes to dive deep when planning or dreaming about travel, this is the best source. The destinations covered are not only the mainstream top places around the world but off the beaten track gems too. A specifically themed post called “Costa Meno” – meaning “costs less” – provides information on places that are “high on charm, low on cost”. Travel has become ridiculously expensive and Yolo Intel addresses it with stylish, smart solutions to travel within a budget via the Costa Meno newsletter. There’s also the “Bric-a-Brac” post with a mixed bag of travel info not necessarily related to one destination. I go down a deep rabbit hole with every YOLO Journal newsletter, bookmarking all the places I want to visit.

I love YOLO Journal too! I stayed in a wonderful hotel in London per the recommendation of a newsletter contributor – a “Costa Meno” gem.

YOLO is the only newsletter I subscribe to. i also appreciate that you can see the whole archive for in-depth information on different destinations . I didn’t care for the print version, as I felt the content was skimpy and the photographs were blurry.
