VINTAGE LOOKING BOAT SHOES

VINTAGE LOOKING BOAT SHOES

It didn’t take long for the distressed boat shoes from Miu Miu’s Spring 2024 collection to become a favorite for the season. At first glance, I dismissed them, but they’ve grown on me. I keep returning to the style in faded white. I’m imagining them worn where I used to grab a pair of white sneakers. I love the faded bleached effect and how the worn through edging gives them a unique flair. And yes, the originals are available at a fraction of the cost – minus the vintage vibe from Miu Miu.

Available here, here, and here.

I agree that they’re a great shoe, *but* they’re $950! Sometimes that’s worth it and sometimes, not. In my mind, I think of this as “the Emperor’s New Clothes”. How many people appreciate Miu Miu? If you really like the look, then just pick-up a similar looking shoe or stick with the white sneaker, but $950? Yikes.

I know what you mean but I’m open to splurging on a casual shoe or sandal that I know will get tons of wear. For example, my Chanel “dad” sandals I bought in 2019. They are still my go to for comfort and style and they haven’t aged a bit. I look at these Miu Miu’s as a replacement for white sneakers. I’ll wear them with skirts, dresses, jeans, shorts…everything in my day to day life. Yes, there are other white boat shoes out there, but the details and bleached effect are what make these special. They are also insanely comfortable so I know they’ll be worn often.
