June gloom is heavy this year. So much that I’m still taking my walks with a puffer. If the sun breaks through, it’s briefly in the afternoon. I’m eager for warmth and the feeling of summer to hit. So, I’m planning. I’m getting my sunscreen, sandals, and other necessities in order for when the moment arrives.
I mentioned my sunscreen routine in a previous post and more specifically the importance of Mexoryl, the key ingredient in the La Roche-Posay UVMune 400 line. It blocks UVA rays, the ones that cause the most damage. Unfortunately, it’s not sold in the US, but you can get it online. I started with the fluid-like lotion and like it but want to try the mattifying cream formulation. More detailed information can be found here and on Dr. Ellen Gendler’s site which is where I first discovered this product.
In an effort to keep my hair healthy, I try not to use a blowdryer unless necessary. Some days I’ll just apply a styling product and go for a sleek look. I’m interested in trying The Texturizing Air Dry Mousse from Crown Affair to see if it will produce a soft but manageable style without heat.
A classic flat sandal is my go to all summer long. I love this style from Celine with just a touch of gold hardware on a stitched leather sole. Also in white.
I featured Phoebe Philo’s bold black acetate frames the other day but love this color and shape from Gucci just as much.
For my summer travels, I pack jewelry that’s wearable day or night, from beach to restaurant. A simple gold cuff or bangle works for me. I like this from Lie Studio. I’ll also toss in a scarf that multi functions as a sarong or wrap. The neutral color palette on this linen piece from Loewe would work well with everything I usually pack. Another option from Celine works just as well.
