SUMMER SKIRTS & JEANS

SUMMER SKIRTS & JEANS

When I do a seasonal edit of my closet, the categories in need of a refresh become clear. This summer, it’s pale jeans and long skirts. Read below on how I like to wear them now. Additionally, the croissant shaped shoulder bag is on the top of my wish list as something new to make any look more of the moment. I see it as a strong piece to carry for seasons beyond summer. The ones that are the most interesting to me are textured,  shiny or a soft matte suede.

ANOTHER TOMORROW white jeans, TOTEME ecru jeans, MATTEAU silk skirt and top, MATTEAU tan skirt (also in black), ULLA JOHNSON black skirt and top, KHAITE bag

For jeans, I want to wear long, loose relaxed styles with flats and pair them with slim tops. It’s a comfortable combination I’ve been wearing on repeat lately with blue denim, so I’ll continue it with white or ivory. To prevent the slouchy jeans from dictating a sloppy look, the shoes need to be somewhat elevated – beautiful flat sandals work for me. A polished belt helps too. If I opt for a more classic jean, I’d go with straight that hits the ankle. This is a versatile style to pair with an oversized knit, blazer or tucked in poplin shirt. The key to a chic white (or any pale shade) jean is the fabric content. In my opinion, 100% cotton is the only way to go to create the shape I think is most stylish.

ANOTHER TOMORROW jeans, CITIZENS OF HUMANITY jeans, AGOLDE jeans, KHAITE bag, GIANVITO ROSSI sandals

I love mid to long length skirts. They’re incredibly versatile to style. Worn with sneakers and a tee is a nice way to create an effortless runaround outfit. If I can create the look of a dress with a matching top, I’m all in. The Ulla Johnson and Matteau pieces above for example. In addition to wearing them in a monochromatic look, the tops with jeans and the skirts with tanks or sweaters give the pieces extra mileage. They’re bonus pieces for travel.
