FIRST FALL PICKS

FIRST FALL PICKS

My favorite season is fall. I love the clothing and style that accompanies the mood of transitioning past summer to what has always felt to me like the start of a new year. I’m eager to move past white linen and summer staples but the weather doesn’t exactly warrant heavier clothing. I’ll stay away from the bulk of fall clothing for now and instead focus on making a shift with color. Warm neutrals, brown, taupe and grey are currently on the top of my list. I’m shopping for pieces now in this color range but in sensible weights. They’ll layer effortlessly into my wardrobe giving outfits a boost of new season freshness. Shoes and bags are an easy way to make the transition too.

On my list:

A cropped short sleeve sweater to wear with high waisted bottoms. I love this one from Khaite for the yummy color and the beautiful neckline. I’ll pair it with white jeans and full poplin skirts.

Suede is the key texture for fall to make any look modern. Easiest places to start are with accessories. The hint of the soft matte finish subtly featured on a belt is perfect. Suede loafers are on the top of my fall shoe shopping list. I love these from Tod’s.

A brown sandal or bag in a deep chocolate hue is also a great option. The more polished and sophisticated the better. Tom Ford has a gorgeous option on the sandal front while Toteme’s croc-embossed bag offers an impactful punch.

Dark jeans will come back into rotation. The combo of a high waist with a cropped sweater or jacket is still a look I find appealing.

Love all of this! I noticed the Toteme belt is a double wrap belt. I’m curious how to style it with jeans?

I probably won’t wear it with jeans. I think it looks best on a dress.
