Sweaters and jeans are the season’s staples I wear on repeat. They create a uniform that makes getting dressed effortless. The pieces don’t change too much from year to year, but I like to keep them updated with tweaks to silhouettes. I’ll look for fresh ways to style them by introducing new layers and pairing with shoes and bags that define the moment.
I rotate between straight and wide leg jeans and often wear them with a denim shirt as a base. From there a basic crewneck sweater is an easy addition. For a more forward look, I’d add an interesting sweater over the base. Maybe something with an exaggerated sleeve folded up to reveal the denim shirt underneath. When I want to take a break from jeans, a relaxed corduroy pant looks modern and works with most of the sweaters and shirts. It rarely gets cold enough for a coat, so a trench is a more practical choice. All these staples are grounded with my go-to shoe wardrobe of loafers, sneakers and flats.
