FALL AND WINTER EVENT DRESSING

FALL AND WINTER EVENT DRESSING

Over the last few years, I’ve built a small collection of evening separates. I like how they offer mileage throughout the season and are repeatable in fresh ways. Core to my collection are beautiful tops. After doing time for an evening outfit, they’ll get plenty of play with jeans and trousers. I like that kind of purchase. Next are skirts. I prefer maxis but whatever length suits your frame is worth collecting. I have two gorgeously tailored styles in navy and black from Matches Fashion (sadly gone), and a crisp high waist style from Wardrobe.NYC. (available in grey too). All three fall into the structured straight category. If you can pull off a maxi, two advantages immediately come to mind – they provide warmth with the extra coverage and can be worn with a low heel or flat.

This season, I plan on adding a couple of pieces to my mini collection. A structured satin skirt –  The Row shown above would do just fine – and a semi-sheer shirt. I like the look very pared down to let the silhouettes do the talking. A surprise color contrast with a bag (isn’t this pale mint color pretty?) and gorgeous earrings or a ring are all the layers I’d add. Plus a swipe of either a nude or a bold red lip, depending on mood.

White shirt, black satin skirt (also in ivory), black shirt, diamond earrings, mint bag, shoes, soft matte red lipstick
