earrings, skirt, shirt, sandal, Gabriela Hearst Resort 2026
I think almost everything looks better with a black accent. It’s the punctuation mark to an outfit. Or the anchor to ground tonal outfits. My summer palette always includes black and I’m routinely pairing it with white. I love the sharp contrast. The fabric defines the mood with crisp cottons for polish and textured linens for a relaxed vibe. White jeans with black is a summer uniform and I’ll mix those pieces in as many ways as I can imagine. If you look back at my Wearing Lately posts, you’ll see I’ve already identified a great classic white jean. I’m rotating it with a wide leg style and that covers my needs. Both pants will see black poplin or linen shirts, nubby sweaters, and blazers – both shrunken and oversized – as common companions. What I’m interested in adding now is a straight black cotton skirt with an almost utilitarian feel. I have a full skirt (seen multiple times in my travel posts) and would like a more tailored style. I love the one above from Tory Burch but at $1398, the price point seems off. I see myself wearing one with a low heeled or flat sandal, crisp shirt tucked in and a statement pair of earrings.

Khaite Cruise 2026 showed this perfect look I’d wear now and into fall. The addition of tan rounds up my favorite palette. Black accessories for summer feel more seasonal with woven texture. A day to night low heel suede sandal stays in the same minimalist, simple realm as a flip flop but with more polish.
