WEARING LATELY

WEARING LATELY

After I change out of my workout clothes, my self-isolation wardrobe consists of jeans, a cashmere sweater, cozy socks, and shearling-lined Birkenstocks. It’s a uniform on constant rotation. I’m comfortable, warm and feel like I’m a step up (however minimal) from lounging in my sweats all day.

cardigan I’m wearing, Jenni Kayne Fisherman sweater, cashmere socks, The Laundress shampoo, spray and sweater stone

I’m taking this opportunity of extended time at home to tidy up my closet. After organizing my sweaters, I decided this was the perfect time to give them a wash and de-pilling. I only do a few at a time since they need to dry on a flat surface and I have limited space for that.

I love The Laundress Wool & Cashmere Shampoo for this task. I’ve used it for years and have both the original cedar scent and the Rose 31 fragrance from the Le Labo x The Laundress collaboration. In between washes, I have the spray handy in my closet for a quick freshening and to release creases.

And a bit of good news, The Laundress products, my favorite cashmere sweater and everything on the Jenni Kayne site is currently 20% off with code THANKYOU.

For details on how to wash your cashmere sweaters, read this.

What do you use to de-pill your sweaters? I have a few I might be able to save from extinction!

I use the Sweater Stone linked in the post.

What color Birkenstock do you have? I do not see this light color on the website.

Just curious, how tall are you? I am considering doing prolon on this quarantine. Thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Meg

The color pictured is nude and it appears most colors (including nude) have very limited sizing available online.

I’m not sure about ProLon right now. Someone sent me an article suggesting that because of the stress it puts on your body, it should be avoided in an effort to make your immune system as strong as possible. If I find the article I’ll link it back. I’m 5’9″.

That’s what I’ve heard about ProLon.. not good right now when need our immune systems strong… better to do 15-18 hours of fasting 😊

Does anyone know of a brand that makes superb quality cashmere?

I have 20-year old Jil Sander sweaters, some worn hundreds of times, that still look fabulous and never pill. I haven been able to find decent cashmere in at least 5+ years. Even Loro Piana pills.

Frustrated by spending top dollar on cashmere that is such poor quality has me purchasing cheap cashmere, wearing it a few times and then sending it off to the thrift store.

The clothing line VINCE has great cashmere sweaters and are actually on sale now! The cardigan sweater Karima is wearing in top left is actually a Vince sweater I believe. Take care!

Yes, you’re right! At first I thought I was wearing the JK Stanford cardigan, but it’s Vince. They’re pretty similar. And it’s on sale (25% off) here. Thanks for clarifying.

If only Jennie Kayne would make XXS! Her XS sweaters are too long (body & sleeves) for my 5’3″ frame.

Thank you for this post, most of us won’t be sending anything to a dry cleaner for a while.

I’ve recently seen both Dr. Valter Longo and Dr. Peter Attia (separately) discuss the question of fasting during this pandemic. The takeaway is after the 5 day fast your immune system is ramped up, but DURING the fast it is weakened and you’d be at higher risk. Longo was on a Facebook live interview and Attia did an Instagram story. If you follow them you can find the videos. Stay healthy everyone!

You’re right about the JK size range. The Fisherman sweater is cropped but at 5’9” I take a small. I would usually size up for anything cropped. XXS would be good for those with a petite frame. It’s available in 10 sizes already from XS-3X, so adding an additional size doesn’t seem like too much of a stretch.

Re: ProLon – thanks for sharing the info. I follow both Longo and Attia and watched the interview. Such good information.
