A year ago this time, my husband and I spent the week after Christmas meandering California’s coastline along Highway One. Spectacular is an understatement. I miss travel and all the goodness that goes along with it…exploring foreign places, observing other cultures, and testing new cuisine for starters. We cancelled 2020 trips to Portugal in May and Bordeaux in September, but have every intention of recreating them in the future. Instead, we stayed closer to home with a family vacation to Deer Valley, visiting friends in Dallas and a quick get away to Montecito. All were fantastic.
I’m hopeful 2021 brings fresh journeys, although I’m not expecting them to be the same as in the past. I see more road trips and touring the United States before venturing abroad and that’s fine. I’d gladly repeat Sedona or the Pacific Northwest. No big cities for me. Wide open spaces with scenic natural beauty are calling my name.
Although I don’t have anything in the books yet, I’m looking forward to renewed energy and inspiration from the adventures I hope 2021 brings. If you have recommendations, I’d love to hear them in the comments.
Happy New Year!

How do you feel about Hawaii? I’m taking a poll…

It depends on how much is open. Restaurants? I’m not sure where they fall in the lockdown scenario now.

Happy New Year! When you are ready for international travel again and go to Portugal, please plan a side trip to Porto (stunning) and spend a day in the Douro Valley. You won’t be disappointed!

Definitely. We had several nights booked at Six Senses in Duoro Valley.
